German Quality Standard

At LR the focus is on improving the quality of life: Under the motto "More Quality for your Life" our ambition is to create a better quality of life for each individual. This can be implemented either by using our high quality products from the health and beauty range or through the unique opportunity to sustainably and positively change your own life provided by the LR business model. The LR quality claim applies to all areas - from product development through to customer service. We are not only imposing high standards on ourselves but also on the external service providers we cooperate with. Within this framework, many social aspects are of importance to us.

Raw materials and Suppliers

LR prioritises the use of natural and premium raw materials in line with the latest findings in research and development. We therefore cooperate with experienced raw material suppliers. As our focus is on premium quality, our suppliers are subject to stringent checks. We ensure the use of high quality raw material and check, for instance, the composition of every LR product prior to approval of the recipe. All raw materials supplied are subject to a specific individual inspection plan - each batch is checked for the respective analysis data and documentation.

Furthermore, it is of major importance to us that the respective production sites comply with the applicable national and international regulations. We do not tolerate child labour nor impermissible working times, forced labour or insufficient occupational safety. Regular on-site inspections at the suppliers, e.g. at our Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller cultivation area in Mexico, ensure the quality of our raw material as well as compliance with the social requirements. Moreover, the SGS INSTISTUT FRESENIUS continuously investigates our entire Aloe Vera cultivation where no pesticides or other hazardous chemicals are used. To this end, the working conditions on the plantations are also inspected. A further seal of quality is our membership in the "International Aloe Science Council“ (IASC), an internationally operating association that aims to protect the interests of the Aloe Vera industry especially in view of science and research. As part of its "Code of Ethics“, the IASC developed quality standards and strict requirements for audits conducted in a two-year cycle.

Processing and Production

The majority of our products are manufactured at the Ahlen headquarters in Germany. For special product segments, we also cooperate with foreign suppliers, e.g. part of our decorative cosmetics is produced in Italy - a country known worldwide for its high quality decorative cosmetics. For this production segment, the quality claim "Made in Germany" is also complied with of course. Italy stands for top formula quality, superb colour, fashion expertise and last but not least for many years of experience in this segment. We take social responsibility in this area as well and have refrained from testing any cosmetics on animals even before the pan-European introduction of the statutory ban on animal testing.

We have an outstanding expert team composed of Dr. Andreas Klein, Director Research&Development (R&D), Sabine Larsen-Vefring, Director Quality Assurance (QA) and R&D Nutritions and Accessories and the only European member of the IASC board as well as Dr. Raimund Lierhammer, Director R&D and QA and developer of the Microsilver technology in cosmetics and Nanogold and silk research. This team is supported through the work of the Scientific Advisory Board, a panel of internal and external researchers and scientists which takes a committed and target-oriented approach to perfectioning the LR products.
