New LR Aloe Vera production site in Ahlen

Ahlen, October 2016 – Together with the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation, LR Health & Beauty implements a major project in Ahlen and constructs a production site for its Aloe Vera Drinking Gels. As part of the sustainable growth strategy, a new production building will be erected at Porschestrasse in Ahlen, where it will be docked to the existing LR Logistics Centre. The lessor of the premises is the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation from Ahlen.

“As one of the globally leading manufacturers of Aloe Vera products, we are delighted that we can extend our site thanks to the great cooperation with Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation and thus have the opportunity to produce our Aloe Vera Drinking Gels directly here in Ahlen”, states Dr. Thomas Stoffmehl, CEO of LR Health & Beauty. “A glass walkway which runs in parallel to the production building, is to give our employees and sales partners an exciting insight into the entire production process and thus reinforce our claim ‘Made in Germany’ with highest quality standards,” continues Dr. Stoffmehl.

As building owner, the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation contributes EUR 5.5 million to the total investment sum of approx. EUR 10 million. This makes it one of the few foundations in Germany that steer their foundation capital away from classical investments that currently yield little profit and high-risk financial papers to business relations with strong local partners. “As the lessor of our LR Logistics Center, we have only made positive experiences with LR in the past 10 years and are looking forward to accompany the growth of the company in the long term,” comments Meinolf Wiesehöfer, Chairman of the Board of Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation, on the partnership. The joint project is to make the foundation less dependent on unpredictable financial markets.

LR will invest around EUR 4.5 million in the machine park, which features state-of-the-art technology for the processing of Aloe Vera leaf gel that is sourced from Mexico. The dimensions are huge. The new high-tech blender alone is 6.5 m high. The finished Aloe Vera Drinking Gels are then bottled on site and prepared for dispatch. In order to closely link production and logistics, approx. 1,000 m² of additional office and communication space will be created for the LR employees on the premises.

On Friday, 14 October 2016, the cooperation agreement was signed between LR and the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation in the Ahlen Art Museum.

Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation

Theodor F. Leifeld established his foundation in 1993 and for the fulfilment of its function provided it with significant real estate and financial assets, the profitability and value of which is strengthened by the joint project in times of unstable financial markets. The main purpose of the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation is the promotion of the arts and culture. For instance, it erected and made available the building complex for the Ahlen Art Museum and the associated restaurant “Chagall”. As majority shareholder of the Kunstmuseum Ahlen gGmbH, the Theodor F. Leifeld Foundation also finances the museum. After the death of the founder on 1 September 2005, a foundation board consisting of seven members manages the foundation. The current members of the foundation board are: Meinolf Wiesehöfer (chairman), Ahlen; Cornelia Glaser (deputy chairman), Stuttgart; Leonie Glaser, London; Elisabeth Keim, Dubai; Hubert Quante, Ahlen; Ulrich Griesdorn, Essen; N.N.
